For some background, I'm in the pool industry so I've swapped out a few pool pumps through the years but never any Solar powered pumps. I had a leak and faulty motor on my own pool and figured it was time to just give one of these a try and see how it worked. I replaced a 1.6 HP AC pump with this listed as 1.6 HP pump. Out of the box mine had a little damage mainly to the motor cover and fan but after reaching out to Vevor on Amazon they're sending the parts to fix that so that's great service. With enough hot glue I was able to modify my broken cover well enough to use it until I get the new one. Installation only took a few minutes of cutting and gluing a few PVC fittings and pipe, it's all standard 2\" pipe size. The wire from the motor to the controller was a little bit short but they include instruction and heat shrink to add length if you need. Honestly you could just go get a 3 wire cord, open the top on the motor cover and swap the whole wire to whatever length you need, easy breezy. As for solar, I have 12 -100 watt panels just lying horizontal on uni-strut over my pool enclosure. I wired each 3 of these panel in series and each 3 of those banks into parallel for a total of 4 -36 volt banks. I then ran the main +/- wires directly to the MPPT controller and the pump immediately spun up when I flipped the switch. You can certainly hear the pump ramp up or down depending on the intensity of sun on the panels. Based on my panels not being optimized at all to point at the sun I might end up adding another 3 or 6 panels... not having a flow meter installed, because of course an actual pool guy wouldn't =), I need to probably install one and find the flow rate to see if I'm getting like for like from my old pump. It's still early days here and if there's one thing I know about pool pumps is that they begin to fail the minute you install them. This thing is awesome or the price tag that is a huge blessing. The Hayward we had was very powerful and would pop the water line on our pool slide. This thing seems to be just the right amount of power and gallons per minute for what I need.

So far so good. For the price I decided to gamble on this pump. It was a pretty easy install to swap from an old AO Smith 1HP 3450 RPM pump as the wire connectors are the same. My pool is inground, about 35k gallons and has 1.5 inch lines. It's been running about 3 weeks now and seems to produce about the same amount of power as my old pump, if not a little more. On my system, after filling it with water it takes about 5 minutes to pull enough water to hit full prime, on 1500W mode, I don't think that the 300W mode would have enough power to ever reach prime, maybe that is cause for some other reviews on here. I installed a check valve in my system just before the pump on the suction side so I can switch between off, low, and high without losing prime. The motor casing runs about 130-150 degrees, which is hot but from what I have read, is within normal parameters for a pool pump. The low speed is so quiet I cannot hear it outside my little pump house, the high speed definitely acceptable volume level in my opinion. My system also can optionally pump the water to the roof of my ranch home through solar panels for heating, which this pump does no problem on high, but on low it does not, which I pretty much expected. The low speed is a great option to save on energy during peak hours, next summer I believe I will attempt to replace the switch with a couple of relays so I can control the speeds remotely. Pump was easy to install, runs quiet and pumps great, and best of all was the price . Just had to change ends of exiting pipe and went with ease

Early review: No, it does not come with an electrical cord. I used one of the cords from my two Hayword pumps that cost 500 each and broke down. Not easy to find these cords online and would have to buy spade connection or make from scratch. I could only get the plumbing fittings that came with the unit not to leak regardless of using sealing tape on standard connectors. For the pump cover, you have to add some silicone to the rubber seal to keep that from leaking. I ran pump on high and it shut off getting hot. Have not tried that again but I bought it to run on the low setting and it is relatively quiet with no issue. Got the 4-year warranty but overall for the price, I am relatively happy that it pumps water sufficient for filtering everyday use.

Got it with a great promotion price. Powered by 2 Canadian Solar 48v 370W panels floating in my pool and soon adding 3rd panel. Working albeit slowly even when raining and cloudy. Way better than the stock Intex pump I was using and sounded like it was about to fail. Installing was a job for someone with knowledge of solar and plumbing. Prerequisites for diy, 1: toilet swap or entire sink swap(not just a faucet), 2: ceiling fan install when no power is available on the ceiling. Other items you will need: plumbing adapters, fittings, pvc glue, pipe(1 1/2\" outlet and inlet), solar panels are not included.

This pump do NOT come with a power cord. Lucky we had one left from our old pump. The wiring diagram sucks! We had to call an electrician friend to help us get the cord wired correctly. It is the quietest pump I've ever had you can't hardly even hear it! We've had it almost 2 weeks and will be selling our home soon so my hopes are it last until we move lol. Price and shipping was wonderful!

It works good so far but the motor runs really hot. Installation was pretty simple. It worked better when I put it on high.
