I have seen worse and better quality anvils.1- There was some flashing I had to cut off on the underside of the horn, no surprise, I had planed to clean off the epoxy coating and slightly reshape the horn anyway. No big deal.2-Upon cutting and flap disking the chunk off I realized the color of the sparks determined it is cast with high carbon steel, using the spark test method.2-Be careful of the epoxy coating, as I'm sure it is very toxic, wear a respirator if grinding.3-There was some fine cast pitting on the horn mainly surface, I'm sure the coatings purpose is to cover these flaws. no big deal. see pic.4-The face is flawless and the hardy hole is square and center.5-the dimensions shown in the manufactures description pictures are way off, see pic.6-as for the hardness of the face, time will tell, if used correctly it should be O.K.not too bad overall for beginners utilizing for small projects, you get what you pay for. Made in China....of course.conclusion: WE NEED TO BRING BACK ALL MANUFACTURING TO NORTH AMERICA,
